The citizens of House District 55 deserve strong, principled leadership in the state legislature and my executive experiences in business, community service and current legislative activities have prepared me well. I'm concerned about the progress of Montana and will fight to reduce taxes, strengthen the economy, improve education and increase access to affordable health care.

I believe that my record as a legislator, community involvement, experience in local business and close ties to the community make me a uniquely qualified candidate for reelection. My work history includes 32 years of service with Sears Roebuck & Co., with assignments ranging from part-time receiving help where my career began to General Store Manager of the Billings location where I retired. After retiring from Sears, I worked for a local construction company specializing in commercial remodeling and new construction. I served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Montana Retail Association for two years, in addition to serving on the Board of Directors of the Billings Area Chamber of Commerce numerous times. For several years I was also a volunteer with the local American Red Cross and served as a member of the Board of Directors. I am currently serving my second term in the Montana State House of Representatives

I'm proud of my community experience, and I have taken the lessons I've learned to the legislature. With a talented work force we can develop energy sources so that Montana will lead the way in making our nation energy independent. We can do this while protecting the environment, creating high paying jobs, and providing additional sources of revenue for infrastructure and the education of our children.

My wife Susan and I have been married for 40 years. We have six children and 23 grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with them in the great Montana outdoors regularly camping, skiing, hunting, fishing and ranching. For many years I have served in my church working with youth and adults. I have been a Scout Master, Varsity Coach and an Explorer Advisor in the Boy Scouts of America.

I believe that individual citizens have the ability to solve the complex problems that we are faced with every day. Government should help foster an environment that encourages creativity to solve those problems and not cause undue hindrance. We have the talent, ingenuity, and resources to create an even better Montana for our children to inherit. I will work hard with the citizens of Montana to find solutions to the challenges of today.
